Cyphastrea Coral (Cyphastrea spp.)

Lighting Requirements: Moderate to High

Water Flow: Medium

Care Level: Moderate

Placement: Middle to Lower Levels

Temperament: Peaceful

Cyphastrea Corals are small, encrusting corals that offer a stunning array of colors and patterns, including vibrant greens, blues, reds, and purples. Their unique growth form allows them to create a beautiful, textured mat across rocks and substrate, making them ideal for filling spaces or adding color to the lower and middle areas of your reef tank. Cyphastrea is known for its fast encrusting growth, which can quickly cover large areas of rock.

Cyphastrea prefers moderate to high lighting to help bring out its colors and relies on medium water flow to ensure proper nutrient exchange and prevent debris buildup. Like most corals, it primarily depends on photosynthesis through its symbiotic zooxanthellae but will also benefit from occasional feedings of small plankton or coral foods to support optimal growth.

While peaceful, Cyphastrea is a slow-growing species that should be given plenty of space to encrust without competition from more aggressive corals. Proper water quality and placement are key to keeping this coral healthy and vibrant.
