The Bubblegum Montipora Digitata is a great growing and hardy SPS coral! Being a Digitata, the Bubblegum has a upward branching growth pattern. That is determined by intensity of flow as its growing. It will not only grow branches that grow up and out, but encrust downwards first before doing so.
Montipora get the majority of their nutrients through broadcast feeding in the water column and their symbiotic zooxanthellae, but will benefit from occasional spot feeding with finer foods, such as zooplankton and phytoplankton. Especially Digitata, as they are entirely covered in small extended polyps.
Montipora are not considered to be aggressive towards other corals, but will compete for space if need be as it grows. Being a hardier SPS coral, it is very popular amongst a wide variety of hobbyists, as it closely resembles an Acropora’s structure, without the expert level difficulty. Place Montipora Digitata in high light near the top portion of your tank along with moderate to high water flow, and watch it flourish!
