The Chili Pepper Montipora is not only one of our favorite Montipora, but SPS Corals as well! The Chili Pepper is a faster growing Montipora that will encrust down onto the frag or rock work as it grows outward. This is a highly sought after SPS coral, and its coloration is easy to see why. Vibrant red polyps cover the entire coral, contrasting exceptionally well with its glowing green base.
This is a coral that will stand out under bright blue lighting! Montipora get the majority of their nutrients through broadcast feeding in the water column and their symbiotic zooxanthellae, but will benefit from occasional spot feeding with finer foods, such as zooplankton and phytoplankton. This Montipora is not considered to be aggressive towards other corals, but will compete for space if need be as it encrusts.
