SLIME BALL Montipora Spongodes Frag – Aquacultured (Blue Video Inside!)

The Slime Ball Montipora Spongodes is one of our most unique SPS corals! Being a Spongodes, the Slime Ball Montipora has a very unique and uncommon growth pattern for a Monti. It will not only encrust down onto rock work or a frag plug, but plate outward, as well as grow thick branches that grow up and out. 3 different growth patterns wrapped up into one brightly colored coral! The Slime Ball Montipora Spongodes has a very vibrant neon green coloration, with contrasting dark polyps that cover it sporadically. This is a coral that will definitely stand out under bright blue lighting!

Montipora get the majority of their nutrients through broadcast feeding in the water column and their symbiotic zooxanthellae, but will benefit from occasional spot feeding with finer foods, such as zooplankton and phytoplankton. Montipora are not considered to be aggressive towards other corals, but will compete for space if need be as it grows. Being a hardier SPS coral, it is very popular amongst a wide variety of hobbyists, as it closely resembles an Acropora’s structure, without the expert level difficulty. Place Montipora Spongodes in high light near the top portion of your tank along with moderate to high water flow, and watch it flourish!
